Xplora Goplay extends its digital world to Roblox

Oslo 19 April 2022 – Xplora Technologies (‘Xplora’), Europe’s leading kids’ smartwatch brand, today announced that it will extend its digital world with a new game experience in Roblox, one of the world’s largest gaming platforms with more than 50 million daily active users. The game experience supports Xplora’s vision to drive a better balance between screen time and physical activity, and contributes to Xplora’s content and service strategy to increase future ARR.

“We are excited to extend the reach of our Goplay platform to Roblox, offering new market opportunities and a larger target audience for both our services and smartwatches” says Sten Kirkbak, CEO and founder of Xplora Technologies. “In this early stage of the Metaverse, we also see Xplora´s position as unique as we are daily interacting with the next generation of kids, now growing up in the digital day and age”, Kirkbak says. “We expect to see a lot of innovation in this space, and we are positioning ourselves for this trend."

Xplora is on a mission to safely onboard children to digital life, and create a better balance between screen time and physical activity. Xplora's unique Goplay activity platform is based on the concept and idea to convert children’s physical activity into Xplora coins, which can be exchanged for products, services and entertainment. The first integration was made in collaboration with Sony Interactive on the Playstation platform in 2020.

The upcoming game experience in Roblox builds on Xplora’s strategy to integrate games with the Goplay activity platform and thereby allowing users to progress in a game while being physically active in the real world. This new concept addresses a source of conflict between children, who fear they miss out if they don't actively and continuously play an online game, and their parents, who encourage children to spend more time in real life and be physically active.

The Roblox integration will be presented during the Qualcomm Ecosystem Summit in San Diego California, Tuesday 19 April 2022, where Xplora is one of the keynote speakers. The game experience is developed in partnership with a reputed game developer and is expected to launch summer 2022.
