XPLORA & ESPORTS

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In August 2018, we started a very exciting conversation with Sony Playstation in Spain. They shared a joint vision with us. How can we engage kids and youth to be more active? And, how can we use esports and gaming to be relevant to make this happen? This started a very exciting joint venture development program.

Our objective was to launch the world's first integrated game on the Sony Playstation platform where users could get benefits inside the game based on their activity level. We used our watches and the Xplora Goplay platform to capture the steps and increase the gaming experience. We announced the partnership during Mobile World Congress in 2019 which triggered interest from new partnerships far beyond our imagination. We quickly realized we were on the right path to becoming relevant in the gaming and entertainment industry allowing both increased user experience, as well as a better balance between screen time and physical activity.

PARTNERED UP WITH THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BRANDS

Soon after, we integrated our Goplay platform with multiple global brands in various partnerships. The objective was always the same; to develop concepts whereby the children could get awarded for being active while engaging with some of the brands and characters they love. Either within the gaming industry or entertainment and movies.

During 2019 and 2020 so far, our users have walked more than 10 billion steps, collected thousands of carrots, cracked memory games, or been secret spies. But, only after first being physically active! We are proud to say that kids engaging with our Goplay platform have, on average, more than 10K steps per day—which is more than double the activity level of average kids!

Games have become a social phenomenon

XPLORA & BECOME LEGENDS

One demographic that traditionally has been widely regarded as passive is gamers. While esports is physically demanding and requires players to maintain a certain physique to be able to stay on top of their game, we also want to reach out to the casual gamers. By partnering with European competitive Fortnite team Become Legends in 2019 and joined them on their journey to the Fortnite World Cup in New York. Their player Pontus ‘Tchub’ Bucht was qualified and secured a strong 12th place in the Solos finale, thus cementing Become Legends’ position as a newcomer to keep an eye on. And we did.
